CII in association with its Knowledge Partner Gyan Research & Analytics released a publication against the backdrop of the MSME Conclave: Enhancing the Competitiveness of MSME organized by CII on 18 October, 2013 in Agra.
The theme paper focusses on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector which has been recognized as the engine of growth all over the world. It highlights the MSME sector’s significant role in terms of balanced and inclusive growth and contribution to the process of economic development, equitable distribution of national income and regional dispersal of enterprises by way of mobilization of capital and entrepreneurial skills.
The paper details some of the basic constraints faced by MSME in terms of poor credit availability, low levels of technology & innovation (hence, low product quality and limited exportability) and inadequate or no basic infrastructure, both physical and economic. The role of the government to make the MSME sector more competitive on a global front and enhance its share in national exports through several schemes is also highlighted.
