The Micro Medium and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) are an important contributors to the Indian economy as well as environmental impact. MSMEs have limited resources & capacity to research and develop new products or processes. The need of the hour is to support MSMEs in making environmental sustainability a part of their business process and look forward to long term profitability, lower risks and greater acceptance by customers.
To address the same, Confederation of Indian Industry jointly with the British Deputy High Commission Chandigarh organized a Conclave on Sustainable Growth for MSMEs on 28 November, 2014 at Haridwar.
The Conclave focused on “Mitigating Environment Footprint” and deliberated on three key areas:
- Green Growth for MSMEs
- Sustainable Practices
- Reducing Environmental Footprint
The discussions focused on research, innovation, best practices, alternatives and mechanisms necessary to accelerate sustainable development by use of green technologies. This Action Roadmap captures the outcome of the sessions with the express intention of providing a record of the discussions and suggestions that were put forth during the Conclave.
