Occupational Health, Environment and Safety management in a business is linked to improved performance and profitability. It is often said that safety and productivity are both sides of a coin. Moving down the path from conventional safety management systems, industries today are getting benefits and generating profits through Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) Systems.
A safety-oriented workplace reduces accidents and ill health of the employees, thereby increasing their productivity and efficiency. It enhances motivation, cooperation and morale in the workforce and minimizes unplanned costs incurred due to the health issues inflicted upon the employees.
The study attempts to assess the efficacy of the OHS practices in industries based on several determinants, such as leadership, governance, safety parameters and health and hygiene practices. The recommendations have also been given in the report for further improvment.
