Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with their Knowledge Partner, Environmental Design Solutions (EDS) released a publication against the backdrop of EnviroTech 2014 organized by CII and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) on 03 December, 2014 at Chandigarh.
Calibrating economic growth with sustainable development is a challenging endeavor but one that cannot be avoided for long. In cognizance of this fact, India is attempting a transition to sustainable economic growth and urbanization. To achieve our goals of a low carbon economy and leading manufacturing hub, it is imperative that green technologies are explored for sustainable development, and the industry itself is moved on toward adoption of green technologies for its operations. Green technologies can be those that have low impact on the environment in their production and operation or those that can be used to reduce harmful impact of other activities.
MSMEs offer a unique opportunity to tap into these markets. They have been integral to economic growth in the country. MSME’s have been instrumental in bringing economic growth and job opportunities but are at times agents of local environmental problems also. Hence it is also important to seek models that allow for both existing and future industrial activity with minimal environmental degradation and maximum resource efficiency.
The CII-EDS theme publication looks at various green technologies that can be instrumental in transforming to a resource efficient economy and strategies that will assist towards this path.
