The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region occupy a significant portion in the global economy. The region is characterised by large markets, host of trading blocs, and its close access to the United States and European economies. The region has weathered through several crises including the Latin American debt crisis, Argentine economic crisis, and the Mexican peso crisis. In the course of these crises, most economies in the region have traversed through a series of economic changes, including decentralization of operations, reorganization of production, and strategic planning. Today, most economies in this region exhibit strong macroprudentials and have the ability to conduct countercyclical policies. India's initiatives to enhance regional and bilateral trade and investment relations with the LAC region is also detailed.
