This report reviews India’s present rare earth’s production, consumption, reserves etc., examines their essential role in the economy and in the main downstream products. The report provides details of SWOT analysis and suggests policy initiatives and interventions required as the way forward.
It states that the rare earth elements are going to play a significant role in most of the application areas and India needs to be self-reliant in those production areas. It further suggests that some of the novel routes and strategies that not only emphasize economic viability but also self-reliance for the country.
In addition to this, the report highlights various issues related to the supply chain vulnerability of rare earths and is intended to serve as a guide for stakeholders, especially the policy makers for evolving strategies and providing support for implementation of the recommendations.
It was unveiled at the National Conference on Advanced Materials for Sustainable Growth of Champion Manufacturing Industries held on 4 December 2018 at New Delhi.
