With the aim of giving a major impetus to domestic production, the Indian Government approved the Production Linked Incentive Scheme in March 2020, in the three sectors of large-scale electronics manufacturing, medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Following the resounding success of the scheme, the scheme was further extended to 10 more sectors in November 2020.
The note on “Production Linked Incentive Scheme: Making India Globally Competitive” provides an overview of the various PLI schemes notified so far under the identified sectors and highlights the various incentives under the scheme, along with the expected outcomes and the benefits.
