To accelerate India’s economic growth by providing adequate infrastructure and cater to future needs, the Government of India released the National Infrastructure Pipeline (‘NIP’) in December 2019. With an annual average infrastructure investment of about US$ 297 billion, the National Infrastructure Pipeline envisages a total investment of US$ 2.1 trillion over the period of FY 2020 to FY 2025, covering over 8100 identified projects.
The National Monetization Pipeline (NMP) brought out by India’s Government think tank, National Institute for Transformation of India, or NITI Aayog, in August 2021 identifies “monetization ready” assets. The NMP is a medium-term pipeline listing out the assets and asset classes falling under several infrastructure ministries, which will be monetized over 2021-2025, co-terminus with the National Infrastructure Pipeline.
