India’s rapid infrastructure, construction and manufacturing growth is increasing demand for steel and other metals, making corrosion protection and asset durability increasingly important across buildings, roads, bridges and public infrastructure.
The report examines the economic impact of corrosion in India, estimating that inadequate corrosion prevention costs around 4.3% of GDP (~$180 billion).
It highlights the potential economic benefit of better corrosion-control measures, estimating that effective prevention could improve GDP by around 1.5%.
