Young Indians Raipur Chapter organised an Interactive Session on Cyber Security on 18 June 2013 at Disha Institute of Management & Technology, the guest speaker for the event was Mr Rakshit Tandon, CEO/Director, Tandon Solutions Provider. The session started with an inaugural ceremony with lighting of lamps. Mr Amitava Ghosh, CoChair (Designate),Yi Raipur & Principal-Bhavans RK Sarda Vidya Mandir, welcomed the guest speaker, Yi members & delegates to the interactive session. Followed by the welcome remarks Mr Tandon was called upon to start the session.
Mr Tandon discussed about various types of cyber crime that takes place in and around us. The use of the internet has become an integral part of our daily lives. It has consolidated itself as a powerful platform that has revolutionised business, commerce and the way we keep in touch with friends. He mentioned that the increasing volume and sophistication of cyber security threats including targeting phishing scams, data theft, and other online vulnerabilities demand that we remain vigilant about securing our systems and information. The average unprotected computer connected to the Internet can be compromised in moments. Thousands of infected web pages are being discovered every day. Hundreds of millions of records have been involved in data breaches.
He mentioned that active use of social media and dispencing personal informations leads to majority of cyber crimes. He mentioned about Cyber Defamation, Cyber Stalking & Cyber Bullying, he said that India is ranked on third position in reference to Cyber Bullying. He discussed about Phishing and its dangerous impacts and adviced the youth, to come forward and report any issue related to cyber crimes as these issues may lead to increased stress level and unavoidable circumstances.
Mr Vinay Agrawal, Co Chair, Yi- Raipur Chapter & Director Hira Ferro Alloys Ltd presented the guest speaker with a memento and Mr Chetan Agrawal, Yi- Raipur Chapter, Chair - Health Environment & Safety & MD, GR Mines & Minerals presented a formal vote of thanks.
The session was attended by Ms Disha Jain of DIMAT College, Mr Keshav Agrawal, Yi- Raipur Chapter Member, Mr Shobhit Malani, Yi- Raipur Chapter Member, officials from CII-Yi and large number of senior officials from Hira Group, Shree Bajrang Power & Ispat ltd, Disha Institute of Management & Technology and Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd . The session was beneficial for the delegates as they became aware of the kind of risk exposure that common people have when they open the gateway of internet and get access to various sources, this session helped them understand the ways in which they can minimize on the risk exposure and have a safe surfing.
