Rubber was first introduced in Tripura in 1963 and since then, the production of Rubber has increased exponentially making the State the second largest producer of Rubber after Kerala. The State intends to bring more area under cultivation and is witnessing a sizeable land mass having reached the yielding stage. With an abundance of land suitable for high quality rubber production, cheap skilled labour, developed primary infrastructure, Government incentives, the Rubber industry in Tripura is set to grow manifold. The prospects have enhanced further due to the recent improved connectivity between Tripura and mainland India as well as with Bangladesh.
