SPORTSCOM Industry Confederation unites corporate India for historic round table as Sports Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya proposes “One Corporate One Sports”
SPORTSCOM, an apex industry body incorporated to promote the business of manufacturers of sports goods and service providers to the sports sector and make them globally competitive.
A Historic day in Indian sports where Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Youth affairs and Sports called on a round table discussion with the corporate houses. SPORTSCOM believe it’s a sunrise sector and we will do all that is required to make it a global sector.
With the objective of strengthening the Indian sports ecosystem in order to host the 2036 Olympic Games, Honourable Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya urged corporates to adopt one sport during the first-ever corporate round-table conference in the National Capital on Thursday.
Dr. Mandaviya emphasized a vision to position India among the top five global sports performers by 2047, as the nation marks 100 years of independence. Aiming to bridge the gap between aspirations and execution, he stressed the critical role of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in building sustainable sports infrastructure and talent development programs. He also proposed that PSUs from the Centre support state-level requirements to achieve sporting excellence.
“Each corporate entity should focus on a single sport to ensure dedicated attention and optimal resource allocation, while also enabling effective athlete branding to align with CSR investments and promotional activities,” Dr. Mandaviya said.
“President SPORTSCOM, acknowledged Minister’s vision on adoption of one sports by one Corporate and one State by One PSU. SPORTSCOM is completely aligned with Minister’s vision and has signed an MOU with NSDF to do the policy advocacy for the sports sector and help to increase the outreach and impact of initiatives undertaken for the promotion of sports and sports initiatives in India said Mr. Jalaj Dani”.
Mr. Udit Sheth, Senior Vice President, SPORTSCOM attended the meeting. Mr. Neeraj Jain, Vice President SPORTSCOM shared few issues faced by sports manufacturers, Mr. Rishikesh Joshi, Secretary SPORTSCOM suggested expansion on scope of CSR. Mr. Vidushpat Singhania, Treasurer SPORTSCOM shared few optional framework on mechanism for corporates to adopt sports and how SPORTSCOM can to achieve.
“This mechanism will serve as a blueprint for businesses to make a tangible impact while aligning with their CSR goals.” said Vidushpat Singhania.
More than 40 corporate houses and organisations working in the sports ecosystem shared their knowledge and opinion in a first-ever Open House session with the Sports Minister.
Corporate bigwigs who attended the event lauded the initiative saying that it can become a gamechanger for the Indian Sports ecosystem.
