India’s potential in sectors like Textiles, Clothing, Handicrafts and Household Goods sector is being showcased at the “India Show” being held concurrently with Hong Kong Spring Fair, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong from 27-30 April 2014. The “India Show” is an initiative of Government of India, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Hong Kong Spring Fair 2014 is Asia's Largest Spring Fair organized by the Global Sources and held at the Asia World Expo, the Hong Kong Spring Fair had over 2700 Booths and it offered great opportunity to suppliers to reach out to volume buyers from over 114 countries. This exhibition showcases wide range of products from the Home Products, Garment & Fashion Accessories. Many of the world largest suppliers participated at this exhibition showcasing their wide range of products from different countries. Indian participation at Hong Kong Fair is largest ever comprising of over 200 numbers from Industry, Government, Art and Culture.
An India Evening organized concurrently showcased the “Fabric collection of India” and various fashion designers projected their exquisite work. Along with versatile entertainment acts by 20 member Prince Dance troupe form Odisha showcasing Indian talent and aura of Indian heritage and rich cultural tradition left the audience spellbound.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Asit Tripathy, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce said that India’s participations at the Hong Kong sourcing fair would give a future boost to export of items like Textile, Clothing, Handicraft, jewelry and Household goods from India to countries like USA, France, Germany and other countries. Hong Kong is an important Gateway to the Eastern hemisphere and an ideal location for India to showcase its potential in these sectors and reach out to several countries in East Asia as well.
Mr.Chandrajit Banerjee , Director General, CII thanked the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Indian Consulate in Hong Kong for all the support in organizing the India Show in Hong Kong. Mr. Banerjee said the presence of over 150 Indian companies and delegation comprising of over 200 participants from Government, Arts & Cultural and Industry across multiple sectors reflects the interest in India to deepen and extend India-Hong Kong economic partnership.
Mr. Prashant Agarwal, Consulate General of India to Hong Kong earlier welcomed the participants, Indian’s participation at the Hong Kong spring fair with a dedicated pavilion represents a special endeavor to strengthen the ties of friendship and economic cooperation with Hong Kong and larger East Asian region.
China has been working in Hong Kong for the last 2 decades, it is serviced through a full- fledge office in Shanghai of the CII. Several high profile delegations from the provinces (States) of India & industry sector seminars have been held here.
A Business Seminar - Building Trade and business linkages with India was also organized as a part of the India Show in Hong Kong.
