CII Delhi Business Conference: Vision 2020
CII Delhi State Council today organized its Annual Session and a Business Conference with the theme ‘Vision 2020’.
Mr Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi inaugurated the Business Conference. He congratulated CII Delhi State Council on organizing its Annual Session and for choosing a topical theme like Vision 2020. In his inaugural address, Mr Sisodia appreciated how CII’s vision Delhi completely aligns with the 70 point agenda of the Aam Admi Party.
He emphasized on promoting Delhi as the ‘Knowledge Hub of India’ by just not increasing the number of colleges and educational institutes in the state but by accumulating knowledge base resources in the state that can further only contribute to the economy.
Mr Sisodia encouraged the residents of the city to think ‘Out of the Box’ to bring growth and development to Delhi. He also said that new avenues with progressive thinking need to be highlighted and developed.
There is need for more women entrepreneurs in the city and urged them to actively join the workforce of Delhi and participate in businesses for the development of the economy of the state, said Mr Sisodia.
He suggested that for gaps to be bridged in industrial development of the state, engaging with industry is required to understand their needs and concerns. He stressed at the need of not only ‘Job Creation’ but ‘Job Creators.’ The vision is to not only create jobs for young generation but for them to be able to create jobs for others in return. Incubation Centre, Research and Technology Park are the need of the hour.
Irrespective of the medium in which education is imparted to a child, confidence has to be generated in a child. The requirement is not just for Education but Skill Education. Vocational training and innovative ideas are to be encouraged.
Being the Capital of the Country, Delhi’s vision has to aim at 20% growth and development. Another important aspect of his vision is to see a pollution free Delhi in the near future.
Mr Arjun Wallia, Chairman, CII Delhi State Council, and; Group Founder and Chairman, The Walsons Group and Securitas India began his welcome remark by congratulating Mr Manish Sisodia for taking charge as the Deputy Chief Minister of the State of Delhi.
Mr Wallia highlighted the work that CII has been closely doing with the Government of NCT over the year and suggested forming Joint Working Groups under the guidance of the State Government.
Mr Wallia also mentioned about the CII’s recently prepared 20 Point Vision Document in order to put the state on a rapid growth and development trajectory. He suggested that the vision is to attract global investment for Delhi. He invited and requested the State Government to form Joint Working Groups in the area of Education and Skills with CII.
Coinciding with the inaugural session of the Conference, CII and CII Foundation also handed over three girl toilets constructed in the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Mayur Vihar; Sarvodaya Kanya Vidhyalay, Ghonda, and Sarvodaya Kanya Vidhyalay, Tughlakabad Extension as part of CII’s Mission-Sanitation in Schools in Delhi. More such toilet blocks are being constructed.
Mr Shreekant Somany, Deputy Chairman, CII Northern Region Council, and; Chairman and Managing Director, Somany Ceramics Limited also addressed the Conference. During his address, he highlighted that the Northern Region is not only an important part of India in terms of Gross Domestic Product but also as a region where it generates high income from its states.
Delhi, being the epicenter of the region, there is a huge rise in business opportunities in the state. Delhi has entire infrastructure to be called as one of the modern and progressive city today, said Mr Somany. He further emphasized at the idea of engaging every child with Skill Education.
Reflecting from the World Bank’s report, where Delhi in India is the most effective city to start any new business, he welcomed young Entrepreneurs to engage in startups in the area of retail, trade and e-commerce.
He also suggested reforms to be considered in terms of checking the air pollution of the city and converting Delhi into a pollution free city.
Dr Alka Kaul, Vice Chairperson, CII Delhi State Council, and; Director, Horizon Industrial Products Pvt. Ltd, in her concluding remark thanked Mr Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Government of NCT of Delhi and said, that with new State government in power, we hope to engage in more fruitful activity with the government by forming Joint Working Group in different areas.
