Africa’s mobility sector is poised for expansion. However, high costs, limited charging infrastructure, and lack of enabling policies pose significant challenges. India offers a scalable model, its electric two-wheeler segment grew 36% in 2023 alone, with national support via the FAME-II scheme and robust battery-swapping networks. India is also investing in lithium sourcing and cell manufacturing areas ripe for Indo-African collaboration. This session is focused on collaborative models for EV manufacturing, affordable transport innovations, urban logistics, and sustainable fuel adoption, including CNG and ethanol blends.
This is a recording of session VI ‘Driving Africa’s Future with Affordable and Sustainable Mobility Solutions’ at the 20th CII India Africa Business Conclave, held on 27-29 August 2025 in New Delhi.
