In the wake of Chennai floods in November 2015 which brought the city to a standstill, CII formed a National Task Force for Relief
and Rehabilitation which interacted with vast number of MSMEs and included them in the relief operations. Despite the commendable
contributions made by the MSME industry
to the country’s economic growth, this incident was an example of
their under preparedness in terms of
disaster management and recovery.
This report, published jointly by CII and KPMG, and released at the Inaugural Session of "Finance SME'' held on 26 October 2016 Chennai, explores the preparedness required for MSMEs in India against a natural disaster of such magnitude.
