This compendium outlines several cutting edge R&D initiatives of 30 public sector companies spread across different areas, as diverse as oil & gas to electrical equipment to warships to healthcare to solar panels to user friendly safety equipment. Knowledge sharing exercise, of this nature, spread over a wide spectrum of innovation lead technology improvements would facilitate better processes and adoption of techniques to accelerate the growth of a forward looking culture in Indian companies. The compendium also lists the R&D facilities with the PSEs, which could be used by smaller PSEs to collaborate with larger ones for synergy.
Key highlights from the Compendium are :
- CEL - This enterprise is the first company in India to design, develop, and produce flexible crystalline solar modules inhouse.
- CMPDI - A process for controlled blasting in opencast mines near surface structures, developed by CMPDI, can reduce the distance between blast and surface structures from 300m to 100m (sometimes 50m).
- MDL - The company has optimised warship design by leveraging a virtual reality (VR) laboratory.
- MECON - This enterprise has developed a thermoelectrically cooled/ heated helmet for industrial applications.
