Several initiatives have been taken by the government towards overall growth, be it on the economic front or the quality of living of the people across segments. The focus of the government has been not only to invite investments to India but also to create opportunities to develop and harness the existing talent in the country. This is visible with two key mantras of the government - “Make in India” and “First Develop India”. Significant steps have also been taken by the government to invite the overseas Indians to come back to their roots in India.
This OIFC publication aims to provide a snapshot of the economic landscape of the country and brings out the key initiatives taken by the government over the past few months to stimulate economic growth, encourage investment and develop a clean India.
The OIFC was set up by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs’ (MOIA) in 2007, in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and provides facilitation services to the Overseas Indians, especially assisting them in deepening their economic and intellectual engagement with India.
The publication was released against the backdrop of the 9th OIFC Market Place Forum held at the 13th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), from 7-9 January, 2015 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.
