Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with CISCO released a report on 'Smart Cities in Indian Context' at the National Conference on Smart & Intelligent Cities – Integrated Solutions for Inclusive & Sustainable Communities held on 13 December 2013 at New Delhi.
The report not only talks of the definition of a Smart City in the contemporary context but elaborates on how ICT can be effectively implemented in areas like Governance, Healthcare, Education, Transportation and Utilities. The study goes further to highlight specific ‘Use Cases’ in India where ‘Smart Planning’ has been implemented in the areas outlined above.
As per the report, India’s urban planning requires a fresh approach from all stakeholders. The Urban plan needs to be coupled with an ICT plan to truly unlock the potential of new urban India and solve the challenges for a better and sustainable Urban India.
