Safety in Construction has not attained the high regard as to the level of its importance befit. Having known the factual condition of construction industry alone would guarantee no good for us. It is a long felt need to address the way for achieving ‘Accident Free’ environment in project sites. As a part of this mission report, an extensive survey with various stakeholders was held in this industry and literature survey.
Every one of us would accept as such that ‘Safety Culture’ in our country is far lagging behind compared to the West. While this is the condition for the general industry, it is needless to explain the status of Construction Safety Culture. As we all know and accept, the constraints (low literacy level, unskilled, temporary nature, high labour turnover, etc.,) are often cited to be the reasons for the low safety culture in the construction industry. We can no longer continue to state these reasons as an excuse for not adopting and inculcating high standard of safety culture in the construction industry.
