The CII-BCG Report on “Transitioning Towards a Sustainable Energy Business in Eastern India” is an effort to bring forth recommendations for the energy sector that will support India’s energy-sustainable goals and to showcase how Eastern India can support these goals with appropriate intent and viable effort in the right direction.
Power is the backbone for the development of any country, crucial for the welfare of people, their growth and spiration, as well as for the development of a robust economy based on industry production and consumption. However, the power sector remains one that is traditionally dependent on under-the-ground fuel. India is the third-largest producer and second-largest consumer of electricity worldwide, with an installed power capacity of 407.79 GW as of 30 Sep 2022. More than 60 percent of this is still pegged to thermal or fossil fuel.
