India is facing multifaceted internal security threats. Union Home Ministry has an array of Central Police Forces for border guarding, special counter-terror operations and intelligence gathering, embarked into major arms acquisition program to modernize the police force. Millions of dollars were spent last year for the modernization of Central Police Forces under the various schemes to secure metro, combat-Naxal threats in central India, securing both land and sea frontiers from external threats and so on. Globally, government and private spends on the internal / homeland security have increased phenomenally post- 9/11 Attacks on the US. The new concept called “Homeland Security” has become a buzzword in security parlance. Due to the emerging emphasis on securing the nation from within, there exists a huge potential for the companies dealing in the security items / solutions. CII has been instrumental in sensitizing and bringing all the stakeholders on the common platforms to find holistic solutions through the application of technology and human dimension.
